Find all you need to know about the babycity® rental program.

What products are available to rent?

babycity® rentals have two infant car seats available for rental. Car Seats. We will continue to expand the range of rental products, including buggies, prams, strollers, car seats, high chairs, cots and more.

Can I extend my hire period?

Yes! If you need more time, simply get in contact with us before your hire term ends and we’ll help you extend it.

Can I return the car seat early?

Yes, you're welcome to return your car seat before the end of your hire period. However, please note the full term fee may still apply depending on your original hire agreement. If you're unsure, feel free to ask us before returning.

Are hired car seats safe?

Absolutely. Every hired seat is thoroughly cleaned, inspected, and safety-checked between hires. Your child’s safety is our top priority.

Are the car seats new or used?

Our hire capsules are either brand new or refurbished (meaning they’ve been previously hired but are fully reconditioned to meet safety and hygiene standards).

Can I hire more than one seat?

Yes, you can hire multiple seats, subject to availability. Ideal for twins or visiting family who need a short-term solution.

Is there a bond or deposit required?

Yes a $50 bond will be required at the time of purchase. If you're a Bub Club member and provide a valid New Zealand residential address, no bond is required. In some cases, we may request a bond at our discretion.

Who pays for delivery?

The customer covers freight costs both to and from their chosen address. To avoid freight charges, you’re welcome to collect and return in-store.

How do I sign up for hire?

It’s easy! Online go through the usual checkout process and you'll be presented with a link to the Rental Agreement. By completing the checkout you are agreeing to this rental agreement. In store, you can read and sign the rental agreement in person.

Who covers everyday wear and tear?

Babycity® does. We also repair faults. The hirer is obliged to treat the goods with care, may clean without damage. The hirer will pay for excess fair wear and tear.

What does the hire fee cover?

Your monthly hire covers the use of the car seat and access to our support services. Additional charges may apply for:

What if I'm involved in a car accident?

If you’ve been involved in a serious car accident, please contact us as soon as possible. For your child’s safety, the hired car seat must be replaced if any of the following conditions apply — even if the seat appears undamaged. Your child’s safety

You can start a rental from the comfort of your own home via our online rental program. If you'd prefer to visit your nearest babycity store to start the process then the friendly staff can guide you and help with any product questions or installatio
